Single Dwellings & New Estates

New housing estates are typically ‘cut and filled’ to create an even ground surface. When soil is taken from one area and moved to another, the natural compaction of the soil is disturbed.

Screw piles are ideal for single dwellings and new estates because they can be drilled to the required depth to reach torque and prevent future settlement (cracking) of the foundation.

Knock – Down Rebuild Projects

For a Knock-Down Rebuild project, the old foundation must be demolished and removed prior to constructing the new foundation. This often requires the site to be filled, which means deep foundations are needed to minimise differential movement in the soils.

Screw piles are recommended for knock-down rebuild projects because they can be drilled up to 7m in depth.

Medium Density Residential Development that contains two or more dwellings and is no more than two storeys in height are best suited to screw pile foundations. The main reason for this is because screw piles can be installed much faster than concrete bored piers.

For a large medium density housing project, switching to screw piles could save you weeks in construction, saving you thousands of dollars!
